The Tassimo T65 was released in 2009 and still sits at the top end the Tassimo line-up in terms of bells and whistles. Let's take a look at this one cup coffee maker in more detail to see if this one might be right for you.
The best place to start is in determining whether a Tassimo coffee maker fits you and your preferences in coffee. Tassimo brewers do an excellent job at making coffee and coffee drinks. Frankly, we think the Tassimo has the best technology of all of the one cup coffee makers. It produces fantastic coffee and solid coffee drinks like espresso, cappucinos, and lattes. The chief deficiency of the Tassimo brewers is that Tassimo just doesn't have a lot of coffee options out there. This leads to the bottom line that if your primary interest is brewed coffee, we'd recommend purchasing a k cup or pod brewer. If, however, you want a machine that can do it all, the Tassimo coffee makers do a great job.
OK, now that we've discussed Tassimo vs. the world, let's look specifically at the T65 brewbot.
Tassimo T65 Review
The Tassimo T65 has a number of things going for it. First, the technology is absolutely top notch. The brewer reads a barcode on the t disc and automatically adjusts water temperature, brew time, and pressure in order to brew each drink correctly. The ease of use is further enhanced by the LCD screen. At every step, it tells you precisely what to do. This machine really takes care of it all. Second, this machine can brew nearly any coffee drink you can think of, and do it well. Finally, the added features, especially the illuminated cup stand give the brewer a really cool look.
On the negative side, this machine has a very limited selection of coffee – more than the Dolce Gusto, but still very few. Secondly, we question whether the T65 is much of an improvement on the earlier T45. The two new features (illuminated cup stand and LCD screen) are nice but do not affect the quality of the coffee. Are those features worth another $30? Perhaps, but if the look and style of the brewer is not that important to you, we'd recommend sticking with the T45.
The other negative is a slight safety concern. The locking mechanism that holds the t-disc in place in the T65 is part of the "first generation" of Tassimo brewers and there have been scattered reports of this mechanism malfunctioning. The 2nd generation brewers (T55 and T47) have addressed this concern.
The Tassimo T65 is a solid machine, which will most likely last you for a long time. In addition, Bosch offers a generous 2 year warranty.
Tassimo's customer service is just OK. They will take care of you, but we've heard a number of examples of customers being placed on hold for extended periods of time.
The Tassimo T65 is a great fit for many people. It's easy to use, brews a nearly endless array of drinks, and looks great sitting on the counter top. This machine will not please brewed coffee enthusiasts, but most people will find this machine does everything they want it to do and more.
